Gamers Beat Cancer is a non-profit working to enhance the well-being of people affected by cancer. We do this by supporting better mental health for patients, carers, family and friends, all by “The Gift Of Gaming”.
Ambassador Co-Op Programme
As we develop as a small cause, we’re building up a new programme to help our most prominent supporters get the most out of volunteering with us.
We recognise the valuable role that individuals with a high profile in entertainment, the arts, business or community life can play in helping a developing non-profit to gain the publicity and connectivity it needs to successfully support the people it serves.
We’d like to attract dedicated volunteers who are well-recognised for the work they do, and willing and able to lend their voice to our cause. And we’d like to do this the right way, by ensuring that there’s a structured and transparent approach for high-profile volunteers.
If you’ve had direct experience of cancer or another life-changing illness, or if you’re passionate about games and gaming, we’d like to hear from you.
As an Ambassador, you will serve as a champion for our cause. You might highlight our work in interviews or podcasts, represent us at high-profile events, or help us to connect with new sources of support.
Your voice can enable us to amplify our message of hope, attract support and donations, build up the right kind of support services, and work well with partners in the gaming industry.
At Gamers Beat Cancer, our Ambassador Programme is crucial to ensuring that we can put the needs of people affected by cancer at the heart of what we do.
If you’re interested in coming on board with us, we’d love to speak to you.
To help you be an effective Ambassador, we’re aiming to facilitate peer-to-peer support amongst our volunteers.
We’ll also aim to reimburse out-of-pocket expenses, where funds allow. And you’ll join a lively, engaged, passionate and mutually supportive team.
What Do I Have To Do?
Our leadership team will work with you to understand how your skills, connections, and public profile can best be utilised to support what Gamers Beat Cancer would like to achieve.
We’ll stay in regular contact and plan together which activities you might participate in, and the best approaches to highlighting our work productively, in a way that fits with your day-to-day work.
We hope most Ambassadors will specifically dedicate a few hours every month to Gamers Beat Cancer. We also hope you will bear us in mind when ad hoc opportunities arise to highlight what we do as you work or network.
We’ll do a formal review at least once a quarter, to help ensure that you’re feeling fulfilled in what you do in support of Gamers Beat Cancer, and that we can take on board any lessons from your experiences that can help other Ambassadors to contribute.
We will be particularly focussing on your views on the impact of your role within the cancer community, and the value of the programme to you as an individual.
